Greater Boston Principal Residency Network The Aspiring Principals
Through the Greater Boston Principal Residency Network, participating Aspiring Principals engage in a school-based residency with the guidance and support of a seasoned administrative mentor, the Mentoring Principal, and with sufficient release time to pursue the program in earnest. During their rigorous, field-based experience, candidates prepare to meet the Massachusetts Department of Education Principal Certification competencies through a combination of fieldwork, seminars, writing, and the development of a comprehensive portfolio. The program requires a minimum commitment of 12-15 months, usually spanning two summers sandwiched around a school year. However, in keeping with the competency-based nature of the program, candidates that need further time, study and experience, are encouraged to extend their residency period. Aspiring Principals are school faculty seeking principal certification, who are selected for the following qualities:
